Hi - I'm Melita

I have been teaching in Boulder County for over 25 years. I graduated from CU-Boulder with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education and promptly became a classroom teacher in a series of traditional public schools. I liked teaching a lot, but I didn't like dealing with classroom management or standardized tests.Later, I found my place in a couple of private, non-traditional schools that have since closed. Small class sizes gave me the opportunity to really make sure each student was learning — and if they weren't, to figure out why.I have also worked as an after-school Math tutor, reteaching lessons and helping with homework.

I have been working one-on-one with Math students for over 25 years.

Every single one of them learned differently than the one next to them — but most of them didn't realize it. And the teacher doesn't have enough time to sit down with each kid to discover what works for them individually.

The classroom teachers deserve a medal for getting teens to pay attention in math class, much less accommodate 4 different learning styles while doing so.

A kid should discover how they learn best, and apply it to their various classroom situations. Self-advocating is empowering and often alleviates anxiety, especially when it makes the content more accessible.

Classes taught over the years:

Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry, Calculus, Physics, Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy, Art, Fiber Arts, Life Skills, Personal Finance, History of the Grateful Dead
